The capabilities of the Automation Rules functionality have been extended again. This time the ability to use regular expressions has been added. In combination with the recent enhancement that ensures that the subject of an inbound email is included in the note that the 4me Mail API generates, regular expressions can be used to extract specific information from the subject of an inbound email.
This can be very useful. For example, when an organization uses another service management application, but needs to be able to pass requests to the 4me account of one of its external providers, the provider can use this new capability. The automation rule example below extracts the unique identifier of the original request from the email subject and adds it to the subject of the 4me request.
